Sue Lewis: Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Do you ever feel....

That you want more meaning in your life?

That your relationships could be happier?

That you would like to be more peaceful in yourself?

Or have more impact on the people around you?

Connect better?

Leave behind 'baggage' from your past and move on with your life?

Counselling and Psychotherapy can help with these things.

Sometimes life throws things at us and we just need somewhere to talk things over confidentially. I have worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist for almost 20 years and can help you to accept what is happening that you can't change, and to make changes you want in your life.

I will support you while you find a way through your current difficulties and come out stronger at the other end. As well as coping with things more effectively in a practical way at the moment, I believe that all difficulties can be worked through and a meaning found for them in our lives. In this way a painful situation can be used positively to enhance our lives, rather than simply be seen as something 'bad' that has to be got rid of as soon as possible. As well as supporting you to deal with the current situation as best as possible, I will aim to help you see this hidden meaning which can enrich your life.

Issues people bring include stress, depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationships.... I work deeply to help bring about long-lasting change. I have also worked in business for many years and so have a good understanding of work-related issues as well as more personal ones.

I work short term with people who want to fix whatever is causing the immediate stress or depression in their lives, and longer term with people who want to examine the deeper patterns and themes in their lives, or resolve things from the past.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I began with a Psychology degree 30 years ago, and have qualifications in Counselling, Facilitation and Psychotherapy. My Psychotherapy training was a Diploma and MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy at Metanoia, in London.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I bring a strong sense of confidentiality and integrity to my work, and it is fully supervised.

I also teach counselling on the Open University's 'Degree in Counselling' and I am currently training to be a Supervisor. Until I am qualified, I am offering low-cost supervision for counsellors and therapists.

I am currently working at the Banbury Therapy Centre on a Monday afternoon, and am planning to run workshops here, both for counsellors and for those looking for personal development. I also work from my home in Middle Barton, just south of Banbury.
